How far is it from Whispering Oaks Ranch to Arches National Park?
How far is it from Whispering Oaks Ranch to Canyonlands Needles area?
It is approximately 77 miles from Whispering Oaks Ranch to the Needles District Canyonlands. Plan on 1 3/4 hours driving time.
Do we need to check at a front desk upon arrival?
How is the cellphone service?
Cellphone service can be spotty depending on your specific service provider. We do have excellent fiber optic WIFI that guests have found more than accommodating to their connectivity needs.
What kind of coffee pot does the cabin have?
All cabins are equipped with a drip coffee pot.
Is the hot tub shared with other guests?
All cabins have their own hot tub for private use of that cabin's occupants.
Does the cabin(s) have air conditioning and/or heating?
Yes, each cabin has air conditioning and heating.
Is there a restaurant onsite or nearby?
There is not any food service onsite. Guests bring their own food and prepare their own meals. Each cabin is adequately equipped for food preparation. Nearest restaurants are in Moab.
Can we fish in your ponds?
Yes, we do allow catch and release fishing at our ponds. No permit is required. You would need to bring your own fishing equipment . Please note that fishing at nearby Warner or Oowah Lakes does require appropriate fishing permits
When it snows, do you plow the roads?
Yes, our staff are onsite daily and will manage snow removal on our property roads. The county road department plows the Loop Road to Moab.
What is the elevation at Whispering Oaks Ranch, and what weather should we expect?
Whispering Oaks Ranch sits at 7,950 feet in the La Sal Mountains, nearly 4,000 feet above Moab. That elevation is one of our favorite perks: summer days here typically run 15–20 degrees cooler than the desert floor, so while Moab bakes near 100°F, our guests enjoy comfortable temperatures in the 70s and 80s with crisp, cool evenings...perfect for hot tubs and stargazing.
Spring and fall bring mild days and chilly nights, and winter transforms the ranch into a quiet, snowy retreat (cabins are fully heated, and we're still less than an hour from the parks). Year-round, mountain weather can change quickly, so we recommend packing layers, sun protection, and a warm jacket for evenings — even in July.
If you're arriving from lower elevations, drink plenty of water your first day or two, as the thinner air can sneak up on you during hikes and activities.
